Not my number one Japanese place, but it's pretty solid. I've only had takeout so I can't speak as to the service while dining in, but the food itself is pretty legit. I particularly like their scallops. I've only gotten their sushi a couple times. What I had was fairly average quality and a less than average portion size, so if you're looking for a sushi experience, there are definitely other places I'd recommend. But those scallops though.

I should have read the Yelp reviews before going here. The sushi I ordered was definitely a bummer. Portion size is REALLY small. I mean a solid third of the container was taken up by the 2 oz. tub of this strange orange mayo sauce that they added. The egg rolls I ordered on the side were moreso a meatball covered in wonton and it came with another sweet mayo sauce (this time it was a different shade of orange). Nothing was THAT bad, but then again nothing was good. I would definitely go to one of the places on Washington Rd. before coming here, but if you're downtown/in North Augusta and dying for sushi, this is your best (more like only) bet.

We have eaten here several times and the food is always pretty good. I typically get the filet and my husband will get the filet and shrimp. For the most part the amount of food you get for the price is good. The reason we like to come here is because you get to skip all the flare of other Japanese restaurants but still get the same type food. We have children under the age of 6 and sometimes we are limited in time. My issue with this place is the service isn't that great. It is just average. For instance, last night my daughter was sleeping when we walked in and was still asleep when we ordered. I ordered her food and one of her favorite parts of a Japanese meal is the soup that comes with it. I was told that since I was getting my daughters meal to go she would not be able to have soup. What??? So if the reason is that you don't have a container...then give it to me in a to go cup. I was told "no"...I'll get in trouble. It just rubbed me the wrong way. If I am willing to pay for it and have a way for you to provide it to me, why won't you give it to me???

I live in Charlotte, and was visiting my Dad and stopped here for dinner. Puzzled by all the bad reviews. I didn't have their Sushi which is what seemed to earn poor reviews. But I got their Filet Mignon and Teriyaki Chicken combo. Let me tell you that the Filet was excellent! I got it Mid Rare and it melted in my mouth. Chicken was a little crispy and flavorful. Veggies nicely done. My "secret" was taking their Yum Yum sauce that they brought out with the shrimp app and used it as my dipping sauce for ny Filet and Chicken. And there was PLENTY of food! I'm a big eater and was stuffed when I was done! Being used to really good Teppanyaki places I thought this was an unexpected and very pleasant surprise in North Augusta! Now is this the "best" Japanese place ever? No. Are there better places across the river on Washington Road? Yup. But is this a good option for little North Augusta? YES! It's all relative. Definitely recommended, at least for their Teppanyaki dishes.

Kinda wondering about negative reviews. This is my "go to" restaurant in the CRSA. I always get aweSome service here. The manager who I think is owner usually is working register and she always seems concerned about our experience here. The entrees taste like a Hibachi grill without all the wait and fuss. I hate going to those grills. Here you get your food fast and prepared your way without waiting on this silly onion trains and throwing food around. I do miss the fire though. I agree, not the best sushi in town but it is decent. If you want just a roll or two with dinner it's good. But for the price, quality, speed of service I think this place is top notch. I like that you can either get entrees low carb or no rice if you want to be more Paleo. So a very healthy option too with lots of veggies :) And filet mignon seems like it is always on special.

Haven't been for a long time. Much the same. Serving people that want to pay the bill rather than seating people waiting to come in. Food was OK although this is the thing I noticed last time as well as this time. The menu states Zucchini and Onion as part of the vegetables. My dish had neither but the photo taken back in October by another reviewer shows it !! We went near to closing time, they had dumped the ice machine so we couldn't get any more drinks with ICE in them. Not really a fan but for some reason my family like to eat here. Till the next time then.

I wish I had looked at the reviews on Yelp before visiting. My husband and I got the scallop hibachi, and the scallops were chewy and tasted off and I felt ill to my stomach after eating here. It was at lunch and we didn't want to bother with sending food back, so we ate the rice and went to pay. We let the person who checked us out know that the scallops tasted like they were going bad, but the service was good. She didn't really comment but looked displeased (with us), ran our card and we left. Won't be going back, and don't ever get the seafood here as far as I'm concerned. Maybe the chicken was better, but I won't risk it, personally. Ah well, my search for decent Asian food in Augusta continues...

Honestly I'm shocked to see the ratings so low. My wife and I have enjoyed coming here many times now. And a lot of friends locally say they love it. Sure if you want something more authentic go a true steakhouse and pay more. Also I don't eat sushi so can't review on that. But I'll be going back. Hopefully soon

I was in the area and it was lunchtime, so i decided to try it. I am from California were Japanese food is prominent and always authentic, so I was expecting some good Japanese food. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and it really wasn't appetizing. 1. it didn't taste like teriyaki ... it didn't even taste seasoned. 2. the meat was chewy 3. they don't give you that much meat. 4. overpriced for what you get. I wish I could give them zero stars but I'll give them 1 star because the lady in the front was nice and friendly.

I am relatively new to sushi and sushi bars, only ever really having "sushi" from publix, whole foods, Kroger and the like, but without even the slightest effort these GROCERY STORES would put Sabi to shame on their worst day. The sushi was warmer than room temperature and tough, if I could give it a zero star rating I would have done so yesterday(mind you I ate their this evening). DO NOT DINE!! God forbid this was to be someone's first sushi experience they would never want to try it again 0/5

My wife & I eat there frequently. The food is very good, reasonably priced, and the staff are always friendly. The sushi is also very good, don't understand the very negative reviews.

Ugh!!! This place is absolutely not worth the trip. Came here for lunch at the recommendation of a colleague and totally regretted it. Immediately upon entering you notice the place smells heavily of grease. Your clothes will smell like that when you leave. Disgusting!!! The chicken teriyaki with veggies was over cooked and salty. The fried rice was about as bad and the "white sauce" is just mayo - again, disgusting!!! I wouldn't even consider trying the sushi. Do yourself a favor and skip this place - I'm sure there are better options nearby. You've been warned!!!

Awful sushi! And when I spoke with the man about how it didn't taste fresh he asked if I've ever eaten eel before! Puh-lease I love eel and sushi! Then, we were going to order something else, but they were still going to charge us for the awful sushi. Will not be returning and I will definitely warn others of how awful it is!

Sushi was the absolute worst I've ever had. This fish was frozen...defrosted, and put together by the hands of a substitute sushi chef, who also forgot the wasabi. Maybe it was just that night but it was so bad and there are so many other competitors I probably won't go back. Restaurant itself is very nice..cozy, modern, and friendly. Prices are cheaper than most Japanese restaurants. They also advertise and sell Pho - hint......just go next next door to Pho Bek.

Not much atmosphere, but okay. They have some TVs that usually have ESPN on them. It is hibachi style food without the show, but also with a much lower price. I am no expert, but They have very good sushi for the price. In fact, the sushi is better than the rest of the food, though it used to be the other way around. We especially like the California roll, Philly roll, and Alaska roll. We don't go as often as we used to for some reasons explained in the next paragraph. They tend to overcook the steak, so order it rarer than you want it. They also cut the vegetables rather large and in odd shapes and that tends to make them too crunchy for my taste, so I usually have to slice them up some more to at least make the bites more manageable. Since the steak and rice with vegetables was the main reason we used to go, the falloff in quality when they changed chefs a year or so ago caused us to go less often. Now we go only when we are either just don't feel like driving to someplace in Augusta or Aiken or we want to/need to save the money.

Well... Ermmm... So...if you want typical hibachi grill fare but without the show, here ya go. Fried rice with meat and veggies. Sushi is...there. It's not bad tasting. It's not really much of anything. Usual rolls, a little sloppily made, but adequate. Staff is VERY friendly and fast though, which is a plus.

Ok food and ok price. Don't go very often because the food is a little bland for my taste. I like seasonings and flavor! However, food is not horrible. So, we do still occasionally go. Sushi is ok too.
